His animosity stems from a deep-seated fear and suspicion, fueled by fragmented memories and a sense that Thomas is somehow connected to the creators of the Maze.

When a Glader is stung by a Griever, they experience excruciating pain, fever, and vivid, terrifying hallucinations. This process is known as "the Changing."
