Une académie prise dans la brume, un journal caché dans les murs, et quelque chose d'antique qui attend sous l'eau.
Ceux qui portent l'histoire
A scholarship orphan with no family to come looking for her—which is exactly why Deephaven chose her. She survives the ritual meant to consume her and leaves town with the first people who actually wanted her.
Nev's cold, rule-quoting roommate who knows more than she lets on. A reluctant informant for the Order, she betrays Nev by omission, then cuts her free and helps end it.
The gaunt headmaster with a fixed smile who selected Nev as the Founder's vessel. He is dragged into the draining pool when his own ritual turns on him.
A local fisher boy who knows what the academy does and refuses to look away. His flare gun saves Nev twice—once to free her, once to destroy the Founder.
A former student whose hidden journal documents the Order of the Deep. Their written warnings become the weapon that kills the Founder.
